| Elio Revé y Su Charangón has been one of the most popular bands at Cuba for more than 50 years. The band was funded in 1956 by Elio Revé, and has contributed strongly to the popularity of the salsa music genre called changüi, whis is, as the genre called son, traditionally from el Oriente, the eastern part of Cuba. A number of the most famous cuban musicians like Chucho Valdés, Juan Formell, Yumurí, Cesar Pedroso and Juan Carlos Alfonso, all later representing top orchestras like Los Van Van, Dan Den and other, has been members of the orchestra.
The fundors son, Elito Revé, took over the lead of the orchestra when his father died in 1997 and has continued the success of the band. The last CD released "Fresquecito", has been a great success and has won prices as the best timba/salsa-album from Cuba in 2007. On the stage the band is very energetic as well as plays very goog dance music.

"Elio Revé y Su Charangón har i over 50 år vært et av de mest populære bandene på Cuba. Bandet ble etablert i 1956 av Elio Revé, og har ikke minst bidratt til å popularisere og spre en musikkgenre som heter changüi som i likhet med son er en tradisjonell genre fra el Oriente, østsiden av Cuba. En rekke av Cubas mest kjente musikere slik som Chucho Valdés, Juan Formell,Yumurí, Cesar Pedroso og Juan Carlos Alfonso (Dan Den) har vært medlemmer av denne gruppen.
Elio Revés sønn Elito tok over når faren døde i 1997 og har fortsatt suksessen. Bandets siste cd, "Fresquecito", har hatt stor suksess og vunnet priser som det beste timba/salsa-album fra Cuba i 2007. På scenen er dette bandet det rene fyrverkeri med sin svært dansbare og fengende musikk."
